Dawn of a New Age – Wraith – Review

Introducing ‘Dawn of a New Age’, Wraith’s latest metal masterpiece! Beginning with ‘On Demon Wings’, this EP has a different sound to Wraith’s previous material, yet still maintains their unique styles. A refreshing change from much of what’s out there at present and a surprising diversion from their usual songs, but no less magnetic for that. ‘On Demon Wings’ captures the characteristic guitar riffs and drum beats within it and the same vocal strength, yet it’s vocally softer in places, experimenting with new techniques. This track conjures immediate curiosity about its influences and creates an impression of the band now soaring to new heights. A nice clean finish with a memorable riff, it’s a great start to the rest of the EP, which continues with the same level of craftsmanship and intrigue.

‘Nightmare World’ has a strong beginning, with a fast-paced thrashy style and lots of melody! A great sound and rhythm throughout – catchy and effortless. Smooth, passionate, energetic delivery. This track carries such strong visual imagery you can actually feel the drive within it. The momentum is maintained throughout the song all the way through to the flawless finish now becoming commonplace in Wraith’s material.

My personal favourite, ‘Hollow Within’  gets straight in there with a perfectly executed rocky beginning. It has a vibrant melody and an uplifting feel, conveying instant visual imagery. Musical chemistry is well and truly alive and well in this band. A nice touch of instrumental emphasis in the middle section, beautiful riffage and I have to say, beautifully orgasmic!!!! This song just hits the spot! A song that really carries you away, with another perfect finish. Heading for metal perfection! The guys have nailed it.
