New single ‘Breach’ comes at you from Jackson, MI, USA doom/deathgaze band, Vazum.

Out now, ‘Breach’ is featured on the soon-to-be launched album, ‘Western Violence’.

Available to stream and download, ‘Breach’ was recorded and produced at Light Echo Studio, Jackson, MI.

Vazum have recently performed in Scotland, England and France.

‘Breach’ is accompanied by a video.

Breach – Booming bubble-gum intro. Very echoed sound. Vocals darker, deeper and less melodic than is usual for Vazum, with spoken words comprising most of the song. Very synth and electronica driven. Notably more vocal doom emphasis, with hints of UDO’s ‘Dominator’, but it’s offset by the lighter accompaniments. Soft, feminine background vocals enter, just before the end. Taking Vazum’s sound in a new direction, more dream ambience than the gothic focus they usually favour. Darker, yet lighter, at the same time and much more poppy. Clear enough lyrics, but very repetitive, evoking 80’s ‘Top Of The Pops’ imagery. Unusual directional style and very much an acquired sound.

5/10 *****

For fans of UDO, Reece, Siouxsie Sioux And The Banshees, Patti Boyd.
